CARES rolling mark requirements
08/12/2017
The CARES Steel for the reinforcement of concrete (SRC) scheme covers all stages in the production, distribution, processing and delivery to site of steel reinforcement. It requires a robust and effective system of product traceability from the steel producer to the construction site.
As a result of a recent incident I should like to remind you of a key requirement of the CARES SRC scheme. In accordance with the Regulations a firm shall:
The CARES rolling mark is unique to each approved manufacturer and allows the user of the steel reinforcement to identify the country of origin and the mill of manufacture. The application of the allocated rolling mark is a mandatory requirement of the CARES SRC scheme and the approved bar marks are shown on the CARES website against each approved manufacturer.
The use of the rolling mark should be reviewed to ensure it is used in accordance with the CARES SRC scheme and the outcome of the review and use of the rolling mark will be closely examined at the next CARES audit.
